Varieties with Definable Factor Congruences

چکیده
We study direct product representations of algebras in varieties. We collect several conditions expressing that these representations are definable in a first-orderlogic sense, among them the concept of Definable Factor Congruences (DFC). The main results are that DFC is a Mal’cev property and that it is equivalent to all other conditions formulated; in particular we prove that V has DFC if and only if V has ~0 & ~1 and Boolean Factor Congruences. We also obtain an explicit first order definition Φ of the kernel of the canonical projections via the terms associated to the Mal’cev condition for DFC, in such a manner it is preserved by taking direct products and direct factors. The main tool is the use of central elements, which are a generalization of both central idempotent elements in rings with identity and neutral complemented elements in a bounded lattice.

Directly Indecomposables in Semidegenerate Varieties of Connected po-Groupoids
We study varieties with a term-definable poset structure, po-groupoids. It is known that connected posets have the strict refinement property (SRP). In [7] it is proved that semidegenerate varieties with the SRP have definable factor congruences and if the similarity type is finite, directly indecomposables are axiomatizable by a set of first-order sentences. We obtain such a set for semidegene...
متن کاملVarieties Having Boolean Factor Congruences
Every ring R with identity satisfies the following property: the factor ideals of R (i.e., those ideals I such that I+ J= R and In J= (0) for some ideal J) form a Boolean sublattice of the lattice of all ideals of R. The universal algebraic abstraction of this property is known as Boolean factor congruences (BFC) or as the strict refinement property; more examples of algebras having BFC are lat...

We show that a locally finite variety which omits abelian types is self–rectangulating if and only if it has a compatible semilattice term operation. Such varieties must have type–set {5 }. These varieties are residually small and, when they are finitely generated, they have definable principal congruences. We show that idempotent varieties with a compatible semilattice term operation have the ...

متن کاملPermutability of Tolerances with Factor and Decomposing Congruences
A variety V has tolerances permutable with factor congruences if for any A1, A2 of V and every tolerance T on A1 × A2 we have T ◦ Π1 = Π1 ◦ T and T ◦ Π2 = Π2 ◦ T , where Π1,Π2 are factor congruences. If B is a subalgebra of A1×A2, the congruences Θi = Πi∩B are called decomposing congruences. V has tolerances permutable with decomposing congruences if T ◦ Θi = Θi ◦ T (i = 1, 2) for each A1, A2 ∈...
